Book Cover Challenge #5 day
I recently finished reading “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn for Book Cover Challenge by শূণ্য গণি. This book which I’m sure y’all have heard of by now (either book or movie). I am gonna try my best to bring up my thoughts about this book without giving any major spoiler for those of you who haven’t read it yet, so sorry I seem slightly vague!
There had been a lot of hype around this book especially with the release of this film in 2014 when i was in class 8 or 9. I’ve got this book from my cousin as a gift & as i watched the movie, I haven’t read this book yet, so I began to read with high expectations as per this movie and Gillian Flynn’ writing (I love her writings). However to be completely honest I felt a little disappointed as I got into the start of the book My disappointment was also a bit confusing, I could see the book was well written yet it didn’t seem to be getting anywhere, the narrative seemed quite slow moving, but clearly had high potential.
Having said this the beginning of the book was still enjoyable, I just happened to go in with an extremely high expectation. The book is written in both in the perspective of the husband and the wife, and throughout it switches between the two which I really liked, however early on this can get confusing. The multiple perspectives definitely work really well with this type of story, there is a lot of suspense within Gone Girl, it constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next, and telling the story of each character really help to build the suspense and tension.
When I reached the second part of the book I realised a big twist in the story, and suddenly it was all a lot more exciting, and the beginning part which I didn’t enjoy so much now made a lot more sense, and with the book became a lot harder to put down.
I’ve heard a lot of people say they were disappointed with the ending, especially from Goodreads, I however really loved the ending – it was unexpected and there are a lot more twists in the story the further you get into it, it is most definitely not a book which you will be able to guess what will happen next.
Overall I really enjoyed the book once I got into it, I’m looking forward to watching the film now! (But I already watched it in 2014. But i must forgot the scenes 🤣) I think it’s a really clever narrative and really well written, definitely worth a read, just bare in mind early on you might feel it does not live up to expectations, but keep reading because it will.
My personal rating is 6 out of 9. and im nominating my twin sister (she didn’t allow me to tag her tho) for this Book Cover Challenge
